SMH Manufacturing License Issuance

 September 2023 is a significant date for SMH company after obtaining the official license to operate its business to manufacture the original equipment of spare parts of the Kingdom’s favorable policies aimed at driving local production, Made in Saudi Arabia.

The small commemoration headed by SMH Managing Director Mr. Mohammed Shafeeq announced last 10th of September the good news and shared this momentum occasion with all SMH employees and Guests.

According to Mr Mohammed Shafeeq “Today is another important day for SMH, we have obtained a manufacturing license and really it is a proud moment for all of us. Many of you know that the Saudi Government encourage localization which means local manufacturing. Localization is the key for Saudi Vision 2030 to keep Saudi self-sustained”

The journey to this milestone has been filled with hard work, dedication, and the support of a creative team.

SMH Awarded Long Term Service Contract from TASNEE

SMH Manufacturing and Industrial Services Co. Ltd. is honored for another significant step forward from National Industrialization Company (TASNEE) by awarding long-term maintenance contracts for their “HDPE Extruder Area.”

The ceremony which was happened last 23rd of January 2023 in SMH Industrial Services Co. Ltd. Manufacturing facility located in Support Industrial Area 3, Jubail City, focuses on establishing and developing partnership based on availability and the reliability for these important assets.

Tasnee management mentioned during the ceremony, it is a dream process and it is their first long-term service agreement (LTSA) contract for rotating equipment, the contract will enable Tasnee to benefit from SMH comprehensive experience in service support for rotating machines.

SMH management led by Mr. Mohammed Shafeeq gave his appreciative speech to TASNEE management for attending the ceremony and entrusting SMH for this kind of opportunity.

The ceremony highlighted with the slicing of the cake by TASNEE management and SMH management as a start of establishing long term relationship with a common aim of successful projects.

SMH management also showcased the Manufacturing facility for localization of the Rotary Spare parts.

The ceremony ended with the kind words by TASNEE General Manager for Maintenance, Mr. Abdullah Al-Sayed, thanking SMH for its hospitality and hoping for a more successful journey together.

Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) Pelletizing Extruder Line Overhaul

Project Overview

SMH Arabia completed a full-scope mechanical overhaul of the primary PMMA pelletizing extruder train during a planned unit outage at SAMAC’s acrylic resin manufacturing complex in Jubail. To eliminate polymer contamination, barrel scoring, and melt-pressure fluctuations, the engineering team executed complete disassembly, dimensional metrology, and precision field alignment across the twin-screw extruder barrel, melt pump, cutter head assembly, and drive motor.

Core Engineering & Mechanical Scope

  • Extruder Barrel & Screw Element Overhaul: Extraction of twin-screw shafts, non-destructive testing (LPI/MPI) for thermal stress micro-cracks, screw segment re-configuration, and bimetallic barrel liner bore measurement.
  • Melt Pump & Cutter Head Refurbishment: Complete mechanical servicing of high-pressure polymer melt gear pumps, replacement of high-temperature mechanical seals, cutter hub re-balancing, and precision die plate face resurfacing.
  • Extruder Drive Gearbox Servicing: Gear tooth contact pattern analysis (backlash checking), internal bearing replacement, shaft oil seal renewal, and lube oil flushing.
  • Laser Shaft Alignment & Metrology: High-precision laser alignment across the main motor, heavy gearbox, melt pump, and extruder drive shaft to correct thermal growth offsets.
  • Pre-Commissioning & Dynamic Testing: Cold/hot runout checks, uncoupled solo motor runs, baseline vibration monitoring, and dynamic balancing of rotating cutter assemblies at the SMH central workshop.
